Thank you for visiting AndrewDrane.com. This site is maintained using JOOMLA! I recently started working for a startup called Better Lesson http://www.betterlesson.org/ . They help teacher build lesson plans collaboratively, and share their material within their network! I am their Senior Web developer. I work with Ruby on Rails and PHP. This site has some examples of my web design work, as well as links to other interesting bits of information that I think will be helpful to other web designers and developers. This is an ongoing effort, we are finally getting some good CMS tools up and running. |

I am a software developer who focuses on web related projects. My primary focus is Ruby on Rails, but I do a lot of PHP work as well. I work with open-source platforms, as I find the communities are much friendlier and open to sharing. If you would like to contact me about working on a project, please send me an email at andrew [-at-] andrewdrane [-d0t-] com. I have limited availability at the moment, but am available for short-term small-ish project. |

I am sure some of you are wondering why I would choose Joomla! instead of Ruby on Rails for my home page. Good question (and yes, Joomla! really does have an exclamation point in it's title). Simply put, Joomla! offers everything I need and a whole lot more for this particular project. This is really just a news site were I can put information about myself and my work. I am not looking for much in the way of custom functionality, and I wanted to incorporate a WordPress blog with the site. Why Joomla! and not some other CMS (Content Management System)? I've worked on Joomla for a client, and know that it does what I need. I've heard great things about the Drupal CMS too, but do not have any experience with it. |
